As part of his visit to our deanery, we were privileged to have Stephen, Bishop of Ely with us for two parts of the day on Wednesday 5th March 2014.
In the morning he dropped in on the “9.37” toddler group who had agreed to meet later in the morning than usual to meet the Bishop. Despite the changed time we had a bumper attendance, including three children who had been baptised at the weekend – two at Kimbolton and one at Covington.
After a short visit to the Kimbolton Primary Academy the afternoon was spent in the Catworth Group. Bishop Stephen was back with us for an evening service of Eucharist with Ashing on this Ash Wednesday. Over 60 people attended, with most of our group of seven churches represented as well as visitors from elsewhere in the deanery. It was a very musical and moving occasion, supported by the Benefice Choir.
As from today, Kimbolton, Tilbrook, Covington and Stow Longa welcome Spaldwick, Easton and Barham and Woolley into the new united benefice that will probably take the title of “South Leightonstone.”
The official licensing of Revd Stephen Bowring as Priest-in-charge of the new arrangement will take place in Spaldwick Church at 4.00 pm on Sunday 16th Feb 2014. All welcome!
The recent Christmas Tree Festival in St Andrew’s raised a magnificent £1,440 for church funds. Thank you to everyone, but especially to Mary Foster who had to pick up the organisation of the event on account of illness on the team.
Information to follow soon – please check again tomorrow!
An excellent Harvest festival service in All Saints at Tilbrook, with many children taking part; followed by a great Harvest supper in the village hall and a barn dance to end the evening. What could be better
